Commission a Custom Artwork

If you connect with my work and would like something created specifically for your space, I offer a limited number of commissioned artworks each year.

A commission allows us to collaborate on an artwork tailored to your preferences while still reflecting the style and themes of my practice.

To start the conversation, please send me an email: joel.bowker.cunningham@gmail.com

Commission Process:

1. Chat & Choose

We begin with a conversation about what you love in my existing work and what you’d like to see in your commissioned piece.

2. Flexible Quoting

I prepare a quote based on the size and level of detail. Elements can be adjusted to suit your style and budget.

3. Deposit

A 50% deposit secures the commission and allows work to begin.

4. Concept Approval

I create sketches or digital drafts for review before starting the final artwork.

5. Completion & Preview

Once finished, I send high-quality images so you can see the final result.

6. Pickup or Delivery

You’re welcome to collect the artwork from the studio, or I can arrange delivery and assist with framing if needed.

Satisfaction Guarantee

Your satisfaction is important.

Final payment is only required once you are happy with the finished artwork.

In the rare case the piece does not meet expectations, the deposit can be refunded. In some cases, a second attempt may be possible.

“Joel's embroidered painting "Spanish Hills" is a treasure in our home.  It fits perfectly with our aesthetic, adds a little urban whimsy, and serves as a window to a memory of our own travels to Barcelona.”

— Private Collectors, NSW

“I have three paintings by Joel in my apartment. They always bring me joy throughout the day. They each have their own energy and presence in my home. I love how they work with other artworks I have.”
